I noticed these gorgeous Mimco brand ballet flats in a vacant spot in a carpark near the airport the other day. They were just sitting there as if a girl had discarded them and thrown them under her car. They would have been there a day at the most, the right shoe had been run over on the rear half, and no rain had fallen recently so they were in great condition (i.e. well worn!).
I discreetly picked them up and took them home, hoping they might be even nicer up close. They are...
There are many airport staff that use this carpark, including many flight attendants. Several times over the years I have noticed a pair of (or single) flight attendant pumps lying on the ground, usually very trashed and run over. I havent ever bothered to pick them up though.
But this day, it was another story.
I know for a fact that most flight attendants carry cute flats in their bags, even for day-only shifts, so they can get out of their work pumps during breaks or overnight stays. So for a long time I've REALLY wanted to get access to their luggage to check out their flats myself
But when I saw these flats, I realised that there's a pretty good chance (over 50%) that these are owned by a flight attendant. It's quite likely that she started or finished her shift, realised her fave pair of go-to flats were beyond salvation, took them off and got rid of them... by discreetly placing them under her car, so as to avoid being seen littering. The shoes were direcly in the middle of the parking space, suggesting they were hidden under a previous car.
Anyway, I took them home and had my way with them, here are the pics.
So, how do they smell?
Well, inside toe area smells sort of plain and mushroomy/musty, sort of like new (but nice) shoes in a shoe shop.
But then... I tried the inner heel. Wow, the left heel inside is divine! I can definitely smell a pretty girl's foot in a pretty shoe... fantastic! It's a smelly shoe type of odour, its definitely there. What I always imagined a cute well-worn pair of flats would smell like.
Anyway, here are the pics... including what I did to the right shoe....
