Burning the first shoe. I have to say that this shoe is the best burning I have ever done!!!

This shoe burned superbly, and the heat from it was just great! The other shoe burns next week.

How exactly do you do the burning? Put aluminum foil over a gas burner, or do you ignite the shoe in another way?

The aluminium foil is simply to make it easy to remove the burnt shoe when it is finished.

I use a small pieces of wood soaked in a little barbeque liquid. I always heat the heel of the shoe for about 3-4 minutes under a grill so that it is quite hot. Once the wood is lit and the heel is placed in the small flames, the heel catches fire very easily and then burns steadily, and quite spectacularly, as in the photos in this thread, and the full set posted on the Yahoo group.
