It was a thread about 70s/90s platform boots, not necessarily chunky. The platform boots that came out in the early 70s were great, but the manufacturers went through great pains over the remainder of the decade to desexualize them by giving them masculine elements such as loafer-like bottoms. When I wanted to look at boots and high heels (almost all were platforms by this time) I had to watch Japanese music programs and buy Japanese men's magazines. On the other hand I didn't like those Frankenstein platforms that were popular with young Japanese girls in the late 90s.

depends on the sneaker for me, i dont like the ones from the 80s or before, but platform or running shoes like asics or reeboks look good to me,
I'm attracted to footwear that's distinctly feminine, and sneakers are too unisex for my taste, as are rubber rain boots (without heels). But I also know that an image of a woman wearing any particular shoe can make it seem more enticing, maybe that's where your tastes lie.

For me, it started with Mary Janes as a kid, clogs as a tween, and knee-high boots as a tween and teenager. All those are styles you almost never see worn by males, at least in the US. Cross-dressers and T-girls are arguably men, but they are portraying a female image, so that doesn't bother me when they wear feminine shoes. One exception is cowboy boots, which I like, but kickers usually have either a more masculine or feminine design.

For some reason, I never got into pumps, unless they have ankle straps and look like booties.
