Not enough support in the shoe? I tie my running shoes the same way of doing a loop to get a little bit extra.

A little bit of that, also, someone recommended this as a means to stop the inner lining of the heel counters from wearing out too soon!

Is this something that happens to a lot of women? I honestly have never heard of a guy running out of the heel. Are your shoes the right size?

Oh they're the right size for sure. It's just a thing with my Asics rotation, never seems to happen with the Brooks or Nike shoes that I have! Example from my (now gone) pair of Kayano 20's;

I think it's just a Kayano thing? I have a friend who got tired of it and she just switched to the 2000 series.

It happened also to a couple of pairs of Nimbus 15/16's in the past as well. Honestly, I think there's something in the durability of the fabric used on the 'plushier' ASICS shoes...it's a pity because they do run pretty well for a while, if on the heavy side! The Metarun's that they released recently, don't like the colorway or the price tag - $250! Some of the tech like FlyteFoam will be on the Kayano 23's...

Not gonna lie I totally want the Meta-Run and 100% could afford it but I don't think it justifies the price above just a pair of Kayanos (which I haven't found any color ways I like).
